Security Deposits

MOVE-IN: When paying WSP with a security deposit for an apartment, be sure you understand the rules regarding deposits. When you put money down to hold an apartment that you are going to rent, you are paying the first month's rent in advance to hold that apartment until you sign the lease. This money is non-refundable if you change your mind about renting the apartment, regardless of whether you sign a lease or not. We use this money to offset the increased advertising and showing expenses we will incur because of our taking the apartment off the market for you. Once we receive money to hold an apartment (your first month's rent), we no longer show or advertise that apartment.

Before you move in to your new apartment, you must pay the security deposit (equal to one month's rent) before receiving your keys.

Please make sure you are 100% sure you want an apartment BEFORE giving us your downpayment...as it is non-refundable if you change your mind.

MOVE-OUT: You will receive your security deposit and/or a Security Deposit Re-cap form mailed to your last known address 21 days after the termination of your lease.

We like to be up front about all of this so everyone is on the same page.

Thank you,

William Scott Properties
